This week, we’ve been seeing beautiful warm weather in the Bay, which calls for lighter brews and fruity additions. Check out the newest releases hitting taprooms all over the Bay Area to see where you can get a cold pint to wash away all your worries.
Black Hammer Brewing — Back on tap in the city is the Blucid Dream, an IPA made with CBD. It’s slightly bitter with a sweet finish of blueberry, and at 7.5 percent alcohol it’s a relaxing beer to enjoy at the end of a long day.
Armistice Brewing — The newest release from the brewers over in Richmond is Deez Boots, a hazy IPA brewed in honor of the Pink Boots Society’s International Women’s Day Collaboration. This 7.4 percent alcohol bad boy/girl is made with a hop blend of Mosaic, Simcoe, Citra, Loral and Palisade for a soft bodied sip with aromas of citrus and resin.
Gilman Brewing — Brewing a new batch of a beloved crowd pleaser is Gilman Brewing over in Berkeley. This week they announced that they’ll be bringing back the Blackberry Hibou, a light witbier made with: yup, you guessed it, blackberries. The berries give a tartness and sweetness to the crisp, fresh beer that perfectly complements the malty undertones.
Alpha Acid Brewing — New on tap down in Belmont is the Alpha Project, a 6.5 percent alcohol IPA brewed with Citra and Motueka hops. It also features a blend of Brettanomyces and Saccharomyces Bruxellensis Trois (or Sacc Trois, for those of us who actually enjoy being able to pronounce our words) for a fruity, earthy funk that only wild yeasts can lend.
Uproar Brewing Company — Head on down to San Jose to try out the new English mild ale called the Mild High. At 4.6 percent alcohol, this is a sessionable light brew that’ll go great with the hot days we’ve been seeing in the Bay this week. This beer is grainy and fruity with a little tinge of sweetness.
