SACRAMENTO — Building on the success of the last years first annual California Craft Beer Summit and Beer Festival — a weekend educational expo and festival held in Sacramento to highlight California’s craft brewing industry — the California Craft Brewers Association is bringing the event back again this weekend, September 8-10 in downtown Sacramento.
With more beer and more breweries slated to join the event — more than 160 breweries, 450 beers, including rare and special releases — the event is an educational and informational hotspot for anybody looking to get a snapshot of what California beer is all about.
“This isn’t your typical trade show with lines of exhibit booths,” said Tom McCormick, executive director of the CCBA. “We have hands-on opportunities for attendees to touch, taste, feel, learn and experience the world of craft beer, view historical pieces from the beginning of craft beer in California, taste and experience what regional brewers guilds are working on across the state and even get hands on with test tubs and dilutions at the Yeast Interactive…”
A festival for industry professionals and casual beer drinkers
The weekend event is divvied up between the summit festival, which takes place on Saturday, and the weekend-long expo of educational events designed to give everyone from industry professionals to everyday beer drinkers something to learn about craft beer.
Educational events include panels on how to go about starting a career in craft beer (featuring hiring managers from Mikkeller Brewing San Diego and Russian River), homebrew lessons, mock judging sessions to teach beer tasting techniques, and how taproom managers can develop taplists for their bars.
“With so many networking opportunities, receptions, interactive experiences and tastings, attendees are really able to build and enjoy a community and improve their skills and knowledge about craft beer at the Summit,” said McCormick. “Whether you’ve been a brewer for 20 years or you are looking to start your career in craft beer. There is something there for everyone.”
Tickets are still available for the Summit Expo and Festival here.
