Armistice Brewing Company — Who doesn’t enjoy a good summertime piña colada? For double IPA and piña colada lovers, you don’t have to choose. The Richmond brewery, Armistice, has released their IPiñA Double IPA, a 9 percent alcohol, 66 IBU juicy brew oozing of fruity hops and coconut flavors. Created with 43 pounds of pureed pineapple, 30 pounds of toasted coconut, and dry-hopped with Citra, Motueka and Amarillo hops, you can’t get closer to the tropics in the Bay Area than downing this brew.
Federation Brewing — The Oakland neighborhood tasting room of Federation Brewing is tapping their new Utopia Planitia beer this Wednesday. A strong, wet-hopped American Red Rye beer hopped with Comet, Cascade, Mosaic in the whirlpool and wet hopped with fresh Ivanhoe (a California hop variety the brewery notes was picked the day before being used in this beer), Utopia Planitia is another reason to check out Federation Brewing next time you’re in the area.
