SAN FRANCISCO — Lagers, ales, and saisons are among new releases form Bay Area breweries this week. With Halloween night here, we are seeing some interesting brews for this holiday. Let some local flavors brighten your palette as much as your jack-o’-lanterns.
East Bay
Fieldwork Brewing Company— This brewery was busy brewing this week with two beers on tap. Chocolate Milk Brown Ale is back on tap, with flavors of nutty, malt, and cocoa. This chocolaty brew is made with a lot of milk sugar and is described as creamy and velvety on their Facebook page.
The next brew, Golden Rule Double IPA, is made with a crisp and fragrant hop. “A dainty malt profile keeps the Citra, El Dorado, and Cascade hops washing across the palate like a summer spritzer, never slowing each gulp down with any sweetness or excessive body,” Fieldwork said on Facebook. Mango, grapefruit blossoms, and orange zest aromas can also be found in this beer.
Temescal Brewing Company— Are You Ready For The Country? is one of three new beers released this week from Temescal. Made with blackberry, plum and lime — this beer comes in at a 2.8 percent alcohol level.
The second brew is called Hit the Hay, with an alcohol level of 5 percent. This brew was referred to as “a fluffy saison,” in a post on the brewery’s Facebook.
The last new beer from this brewery is named Good Call, and is made with Amarillo, Citra, and Rakau. This IPA comes in at 6 percent alcohol.
San Francisco
Local Brewing Company — This brewery’s new release this week, just in time for Halloween, is Franc-en-Stein coming in at 4 percent alcohol. This concoction is a made with a local winery to create this Belgian Pilsner malt wort and fermented with Lactobacillus and Cab Franc must.
Brasserie Saint James Sam Francisco — Belgian Red Farmhouse Ale is the new beer tapped in this taproom. This award winning beer is 7.5 percent alcohol and was made with a strain of saison yeast.
South Bay
FireHouse Grill and Brewery — What Hoppened? is the new 7.2 percent alcohol lager at this brewery. This light beer is made with fresh hops and smells of citrus, fruit, and pine.
