ALAMEDA – Perhaps one of the best panoramas at a Northern California brewery is the view of the city of San Francisco, the Bay Bridge leading into SF’s east, and the expansive Bay sky – all seen from the front-of-house at Faction Brewing in Alameda.
It makes for a great collaboration between Faction and the Brewbies Festival — an annual Southern California beer festival that raises proceeds for breast cancer education and support. The Brewbies Festival will come to the Bay Area for the first time (in addition to their usual Southern California incarnations) on April 23 from 12 to 5 pm at Faction’s parking lot and building.
“We have always wanted to have a few festivals here at the brewery with our location being so picturesque,” Rodger Davis, co-owner of Faction Brewing, said. “We have known Melanie [Pierce] at Keep-A-Breast foundation for a few years now and with the success of her Brewbies festivals at Pizza Port and now at Bagby Beer, it was a no-brainer for us when she asked if she could produce a festival here.”
To facilitate the festival, Faction is giving up its serving license for the day to the charity and will be a participating brewery among 40 West Coast breweries also serving at the festival.
Festival attendees will receive a commemorative custom Brewbies glass, an “i love boobies!” bracelet, a $5 raffle ticket and the ability to try the over 80 different craft beers available at the festival. Tickets are available online for $45, or $60 at-the-door if still available the day of the festival.
Live music will be performed at the festival by skateboarding legend, Tommy Guerrero, along with a special guest DJ, ORB.
All proceeds from the festival are being sent to benefit the Keep A Breast Foundation’s Traveling Education Booth, a mobile grassroots platform that Keep A Breast sets up at music festivals, action sports and art events to educate young people about breast cancer screening, education and prevention.
The following breweries are signed on to pour at the festival:
