Fieldwork Brewing to open San Mateo beer garden in Spring 2017

By Sam Molmud @smolmud · On December 7, 2016

BERKELEY — Craft beer lovers in the Peninsula are about to get a new watering hole from one of the Bay Area’s growing breweries.

Fieldwork Brewing Company of Berkeley announced this morning the opening of a new 4,500 square foot beer garden for this coming Spring 2017 at Bay Meadows in San Mateo. The new location will offer a dozen beers on tap, small bites and growlers to go, according to a press release.

“Fieldwork at Bay Meadows will be like a front yard to relax in with friends or co-workers,” said co-owner Barry Braden. With firepits and communal seating, Braden says the new location will be “…the perfect outdoor spot to enjoy our ever-changing list of fresh releases by the flight, the glass or fresh beer filled to-go.”

On the heels of new satellite taprooms in Napa and Sacramento — as well as the announcement of one to open in Monterey next year — Fieldwork has been busy expanding their brewing capacity and bringing fresh beer to outposts branded by the brewery, in addition to their regular availability at Bay Area bars.

Since opening in early 2015, the East Bay brewery has quickly made an impression on the Bay Area beer world, with an eclectic arsenal of beers that can found at many craft beer bars throughout the Bay Area.

Their offerings rotate and include the likes of Coconut Milk double IPA, Eliza (a New Orleans Iced Coffee Imperial Milk Stout), Sushi Beer Citra Rice Lager, Hannah Biere de Garde, Fog Ripper Tropical Sour Ale — among an ever-growing family of beers that blend styles and knock out classics.

We live in the neighbor and have been waiting for a close beer garden to open up. Look forward to sampling your brews and promoting our findings.
