13 Bay Area breweries win awards at the Great American Beer Festival

DENVER — Breweries from around the United States showcased their best at the largest ticketed beer festival — Great American Beer Festival — with the Brewers Association announcing the winners of the festival’s 2015 beer competition on Saturday, Sept. 26.

242 breweries took home gold, silver and bronze medals in 92 beer categories, judged by a panel of 242 international beer experts and 155 competition volunteers.

1,552 breweries from the United States submitted a total of 6,647 beers to compete this year, of which 13 Bay Area breweries won gold, silver and bronze medals. Below are the categories that had victors from the Bay Area region.
