FAIRFAX, Calif. — With over 10 years of business under their belt, Fairfax’s Iron Springs Pub and Brewery is continuing to expand its beer offerings in both draft and bottle form. Now distributing bottles through Petaluma distributor, Morris Distributing, Iron Springs has revamped their bottle artwork, with the new designs now hitting Bay Area shelves.
Behind the redesign is Eric Read, founding partner and director of brand strategy with BrandMade Design Co. of Sonoma, CA.
“[Eric’s] been in [to Iron Springs] for years and he’s seen the work that we’ve done,” said Mike Altman, owner of Iron Springs. “He did a sketch one day and we took that sketch, made a T-shirt out of it and the response was phenomenal.”

As Iron Springs’ bottling program has continued to grow — the brewery bottles five of its beers and plans to expand its bottle offerings to include seasonal releases — Read’s designs grew to be the new artwork for the brewery’s bottles.
The growth that Iron Springs’ bottling has seen is something Altman wants to continue to foster.
“Our whole bottling developed very organically and grassrootsy. We started hand bottling a few years ago and Whole Foods picked it up,” said Altman. “We did 1,600 barrels last year, about 20 percent growth, and we’re working to be able to double that in the future.”
