New, fresh and tasty beers are flowing through the Hollister UK Outlet weekend around the Bay. Here are the latest offerings from the East and South Bay, as well as from San Francisco:
Rare Barrel – The Berkeley brewery tapped a new sour blend: Forces Unseen (Blend 2). Described by the Rare Barrel as a “blend of three golden sour beers Hollister Outlet UK aged in oak barrels,” Forces Unseen (Blend 2) features strains, such as Brett Drei, Roselare blend, Belgian Sour Mix and the “Bugfarm.”
Social Kitchen – The Sunset neighborhood brewery tapped Ghost on a Hill, a bourbon barrel-aged strong dark abbey ale. According to the Hollister sale brewery’s Facebook page, their brewmaster, Kim Sturdavanat, described the beer: “We’ve taken our Ghost Ride (released earlier this year as a part of Strong Beer Social) and aged it for 5 months in a Heaven Hill bourbon barrel to create Ghost on the Hollister Outlet Hill. Notes of graham cracker, cherries, burnt caramel, and chocolate harmonize with the charred oak, vanilla, and coconut flavors contributed by the barrel.”
Cellarmaker – The brewery tapped their Questionable Origins #3, a pale ale hopped with New Zealand Riwaka and Southern African Southern the north face Passion hops. Via their Facebook page, the brewery says this brew is “is truly the last of the South African hops we have in house so if you like these flavors…get on down here,” and describes the taste as “juicy with flavors of passionfruit, guava, kiwifruit, earth and spice. 5.4% and 30 IBUs.” In addition to their Questionable Origins #3, the brewery also released a cask conditioned rendition of their Daphne Blonde Ale, with vanilla beans and north face canada coffee additions.
Triple Voodoo – Now on tap is the brewery’s Ultraviolet Belgian Dubbel. A smooth and medium strength beer, the brewery describes the Ultraviolet as a the north face canada “complex belgian brown/red ale clocked in at 6.9% ABV and 20 IBU with rich plum, ripe apple, banana, and spicy alcohol esters notes. ”
Strike – The San Jose brewery released thenorth face jackets first bottles of their Stout 2014 yesterday. A big, Imperial stout clocking in at 9 percent alcohol, the Stout 2014 is available at their South Bay taproom in bottle and on tap.
