Among the onslaught of beer festivals hitting the Bay Area this Fall, few hit as hard on the seasonal approach as the SF Craft Beer Festival plans to do on Saturday, October 18, 2014.
Hand Crafted Tasting Co. is producing the event, which will focus on seasonal releases from the 75 American breweries participating in the festival. The beer list is available online and still being compiled, with the help of local beer writer, Ken Weaver, the author of The Northern California Craft Beer Guide.
“We’ve been working closely with both distributors and producers directly,” said Weaver. “[We’re] both looking for seasonal fall releases that folks can seek out after the event, to more year-round beers I just think are an experience.”
Not only will there be an abundance of beer — about 150 will be available unlimitedly in two oz. tastings — but beer experts are scheduled to host seminars and are available on-hand to educate drinkers about the festival’s beer selection.
To this end, the festival will have a Craft Concierge Center, which Robert Howell, from marketing and media relations at Hand Crafted Tasting Co., says will be “a mini-think tank of beer intelligence.”
“When we showcase what’s going on in a certain city, it’s essential and important to retain local craft beer experts because they have the boots on the ground knowledge,” said Howell.
“This is why we have Ken Weaver… curating our beer list and leading a seminar on trends in craft beer. Gail Ann Williams, co-founder [of] BeerbyBart.com is leading an amazing seminar on Sour Beers, which is an exploding trend.”
VIP and general admission tickets are available for both the afternoon and evening sessions at the SF Craft Beer Festival’s website.
